Motivo Design Group Inc. (MDG) was established in 2013 to provide clients with professionally designed building solutions. Each project is executed to uniquely address the client’s requirements and goals. Regardless of the size or type of the project, the approach remains the same - provide unique solutions that are both creative and realistic. Whether it is a custom home design or a multi-family development, a strong emphasis is placed on constructability and cost-effective building solutions. Motivo Design Group is an award-winning design firm, that actively supports community organizations.
OWNER/DESIGNER: Chris McNeil, B.Eng
Chris, founder and principal designer of Motivo Design, has taken a unqiue path in his design career. A path that separates the designs created at Motivo Design from that of the generic or standard.
Raised not far from the most easterly point in North America, on the rugged coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, Chris grew up in a modest home with an artistic mother and a father who owned a residential construction company. Naturally, his passion for residential design grew. At the age of 10 with broom in hand, he was put to work on the construction site and was drawn to the satisfaction that comes in watching a project grow from concept to completion.
Chris’ professional career found him consistently working in areas focused on buildings and facilities. His employment saw him work and live throughout North America with time spent in Ottawa, Texas, California, and Calgary. Inspiration flourished through continuous travels and exploration of Western Europe. Chris maintained a Professional Engineer designation for 14 years while working in Alberta and British Columbia. The impact of industrial and commercial engineering can be seen through out many of our award-winning projects.
Chris brings over 20 years of unique design experience to Motivo Design with both an artistic passion for design and practical application in engineering and construction. Motivo Design Group is a proud member of the Canadian Home Building Association and British Columbia Residential and Building Design (BCABD).
When he is not working in his studio, Chris can be found spending time with his family and travelling the world chasing his next cycling adventure.
